Careful when using transparent backgrounds, Newgrounds made the background black for me so all parts of the character that are black just don't even look like they're there

I'm definitely no expert when it come to traditional art, the majority of the stuff I do is digital, but I still think this advice is valid: draw bigger. You'll be able to add so much more detail and really get the hand of using the pencils. Although the proportions of the head are a little awkward I think the body looks fine but you are seriously limiting yourself by making it so small. Go out and buy a 11" by 14" (27.9 by 35.6 cm) sketchbook or something of similar size and try to fill the page. It'll take longer but the end result will be worth it.
