Back by popular demand, @Supersam111 and I are hosting the Pico-Cross Collab again for Pico Day and we’re looking for artists to contribute.

What is Pico-Cross?

First of all, check out last year's collab:

Pico-Cross is an art collab game where your art is used as tiles in a picross (also known as nonograms) puzzle! When the player completes a row or column, your art will become the filled tiles of the puzzle and be visible to the player. The player can then “full-screen” your art and take a closer look.

Submission Rules/Info

• Art theme this year is anything Newgrounds related.
• Entries should be up to T-rated.
• No exact resolution requirement other than make the aspect ratio 1:1, in other words make the image a square. 
• PNG format.
• All mediums welcome, as long as it can be shown in a square PNG go for it!
• Complete art by May 4th.

How to Join

Comment on this post with some examples of your art. If you’re chosen, we’ll send you a link to our collab Discord server.

Deadline

Hard deadline to apply is April 28th, but as stated earlier art doesn’t need to be completed until May 4th.

1000 FANS!!!

Alright folks, I hit the big 1k on here a couple weeks ago and to celebrate I'm doing a giveaway. In the past for certain fan milestones I've done sticker giveaways here where I pick out one of my pixel art pieces, get some stickers made, and then send them out to you guys. This time I wanted to go big and got some prints made too. So, not only am I giving away stickers of my pixel art "TV Dinner", but also prints of "Suspended Monorail". Check them out:

The stickers are 4" x 4" and the prints are 9" x 6"

Woo, just hit the big 1k here on Newgrounds! Thank you everyone who follows and enjoys my art. At the end of the day I do this for fun, but the community here and response I get on my art makes it a whole lot more enjoyable. While Newgrounds is a smaller platform nowadays, I think the community is a lot stronger than any of the other alternatives, and I have a lot to thank Newgrounds for my growth as an artist and game dev. I don't even think I would have ever been inspired to start working on games if it weren't for this site. Game dev, although is possible as a solo venture, is a lot easier to get into when you have a team of like minded individuals to all play to their strengths, and this is the only place I've been able to meet people to collab with on projects- whether that's a game or something entirely different.

Some of you who have followed me for a while know that I like to do giveaways of my art on here for certain milestones. I find it satisfying in a way to get my art out in a physical form to people. So in a week or so I'll be announcing a giveaway to celebrate. I'll not only gonna be giving out stickers but I got some prints made as well, so keep your eye's peeled for that.

New game:

Recently, I participated in the Ludum Dare game jam with @Supersam111, @ConnorGrail, @Jumbs, @MrShmoods, and @wyrd-a. It was a lot of fun making and in the end I'm proud of what we came up with. We were trying something a bit experimental with the sword swinging mechanic, and that was definitely very hit or miss with people. That being said, give it a chance, and if you hate it that's cool with me. B)

With it being a few days after Pico Day I just want to share a playlist I put together of all the art from the Pico-Cross Collab:

Many (if not all) of the contributors posted their submissions up to the art portal, so I wanted to put them all in one place so that people could go back and favorite/vote on the submissions individually. There are quite a few of artists in there that seriously deserve more attention so be sure to check it out!

This was my first time hosting a collab and honestly did not expect it to go as well as it did. Everyone really put their all into it and in the end we came out with a total 50 unique pieces! I really couldn't have asked for a better turn out, so big thank you to all of you who contributed, you all are some epic dudes B-). I definitely have less reservations about doing something like this again in the future.

Also, special thanks to @Supersam111 for programming this thing and pulling an all-nighter with me to get the final product out in time, and to @ConnorGrail for not only making his own art for it but all putting together this chill tune for the theme music:

I'm organizing a little Pico Day collab with @Supersam111. The basic idea is a Newgrounds themed picross/nonograms where each filled title will be a different Newgrounds character drawn by one of you, with the ability to zoom in to get a better look at each one.

Requirements:

• 1:1 aspect ratio
• Complete by June 9th
• PNG format
• Up to T-rated
• That's it

This collab open to artists of all styles (2D, 3D, pixel art, hot glued macaroni art) and abilities.

WOO 700 FANS!!! Thanks so much everyone for following my stuff, I really appreciate it.

While I usually like to do sticker giveaways for fan milestones like this, and 700 is a cool number, I want to save for a big giveaway if I ever hit 1k. Instead, I wanted to share with you some cool artists on here that I follow with fans under 200 that I hope you all will go and check out and enjoy as much as I do:

@homunc is one of the first friends I met through Newgrounds, real cool dude and he always blows me away with his sketching and drawing skills. Here's a recent one I really liked:

@Emmazapan first won me over by making some fanart of our ludum dare game Tooth Toss, he makes a mix of pixel art and stylized colorful illustration. Here's a great compilation post of his stuff:

@Huesdad is a newer artist to Newgrounds it seems, and oh man they're watercolor cityscapes are exactly the sorta feel I want to create in my art. Check this one out they did of that big church in Reykjavik and give them a warm welcome;

@VulpsVulps, you've probably seen them in your reviews before, I see them all over the art portal leaving nice comments, but did you know they also make some sick pixel art? Check this one out:
